Personal Lines Department Manager

Experienced Manager with Property & Casualty license

Varney Agency is seeking an experienced Personal Lines Department Manager to join our growing team. Job responsibilities include leading, managing and overseeing operations for all of Varney Agency’s Maine branches including:

*Development, management and execution of the personal lines underwriting strategy;

*Quality and service standards, including process improvement;

*Business development and branch growth;

*Maine regulations and carrier underwriting guidelines;

*Customer retention and complaint resolution;

*Relationship building with insurance carriers, policyholders, and personal lines staff;

*Team performance and development; identifying performance gaps and training needs in order to maximize performance and team flexibility;

*Alignment of branch resources to ensure proper staffing and distribution of workload

An active Maine P & C license and knowledge of P & C underwriting practices required, along with 5 years experience supervising a large, geographically diverse personal lines team; superior interpersonal Personal Lines and communication skills, as well as demonstrated success coaching performance.

Bachelor’s Degree and/or CIC or CPCU preferred. Position requires frequent travel, 3 to 4 days each week, on occasion overnight. Varney Agency offers a pleasant, professional working environment with a competitive benefit package. Please apply online at
